As a Ph.D. Candidate in the Energy and Resources Group (ERG), an interdisciplinary graduate program at the University of California Berkeley, I conduct problem-based research and teach courses that explore the interactions between humans and the environment and the interventions that shape those relationships.
My dissertation research addresses the challenges of rural land-use change and nonpoint source pollution on private lands in the rural United States. I have also worked on sustainability indicators, urban food security, and urban environmental education.
I hold a MS from ERG and a BS in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College. Prior to my graduate studies, I spent a year as a Watson Fellow studying food security and subsistence living in the Republic of Kiribati, Nepal, Mali, Thailand and South Africa.
My graduate studies and research have been funded by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, a National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant, a Switzer Environmental Leadership Fellowship, a UC Berkeley Human Rights Fellowship, and the Energy and Resources Group.
